OAK FOREST, IL - The Chicago Cougars Elite team is celebrating a major achievement as two of their standout players, defenseman Joseph Rodriguez and goaltender Andrew DiSilvestro, have been named Midwest Division Players of the Week in the USPHL. This recognition highlights their exceptional contributions to the team’s recent success.


Joseph Rodriguez: Dominating on Defense

Joseph Rodriguez (‘06/Oak Lawn, Ill.) showcased his talent and versatility over the last three games, helping the Cougars secure a 2-1-0-0 record during that stretch. Rodriguez contributed a goal and three assists, bringing his season total to nine points in 23 games. Known for his steady presence on the blue line, Rodriguez’s offensive contributions have added a new dimension to his game.


In his 23 appearances this season, Rodriguez has amassed two goals and seven assists, demonstrating his ability to contribute in all zones. With 18 penalty minutes, he’s also shown a willingness to play a physical game when necessary, further solidifying his reputation as a reliable two-way defenseman.


Andrew DiSilvestro: Standing Tall in Net

Andrew DiSilvestro (‘07/Arlington Heights, Ill.) has been a force between the pipes for the Cougars, delivering back-to-back standout performances. On December 10, DiSilvestro faced off against the Metro Jets and made an impressive 34 saves on 35 shots, helping the Cougars secure a crucial victory. He followed that performance with another strong outing, stopping 14 of 15 shots against Decatur, marking his third consecutive win.


With a .912 save percentage and a 3.08 goals-against average over eight games this season, DiSilvestro has proven to be a dependable presence in net. His ability to remain composed under pressure has been instrumental in the Cougars’ recent successes.


A Bright Future for the Cougars


The accolades for Rodriguez and DiSilvestro reflect the growing strength of the Chicago Cougars’ Elite team. As they continue to develop and excel in their respective roles, the team’s prospects for a deep playoff run grow stronger. Head Coach Anthony Rohde praised both players, saying, “Joseph and Andrew have been outstanding for us. Their hard work and dedication set the standard for the rest of the team.”
